One of the last animal rescue missions that I was a part of took place in a city almost completely in ruin from ruzzian agression. Few people remained, for whatever was their own reason, and there's a few, but that's for another time. Two of these people that chose to stay were caretakers of canines left abandoned through neglect or death of their family.

While we were outside and within the city, we were under constant mortar fire, which wasn't the worst that happened here; that which was so damning and unhuman was reflected on the eyes of those animals left behind.
